Still Alive

1 min read

I have not been drawing much. The Pandemic made the drawing part of my brain turn to gelatin. I've been writing, though, and I'm shalomdebbie on Archive of Our Own. A website soon to come, no time for anything lately. No one's had the plague here, but we're exhausted of so many other things. I have the sketchbook out and have done some pencil stuff. I have my artists friends gifting me things like crazy still; why do people love me? I am cream cheese on the bed. I'm melting, melting, sticky, not pareve. Hope to see you soon. Happy New Year.

It's finally going to happen. I'm planning way ahead--but the way I look at it, fifteen months isn't long enough for me to plan a trip overseas. South Korea and Japan are on the other side of the world, and although I came to the USA from another country, I've never been outside the USA. I plan to be in Seoul and Tokyo from late October through Nov 2020, with time on the way there and back with family in Berkeley California (my favorite place in USA).

My time abroad was deliberately chosen so I would be out of the country during the 2020 presidential election. I'm located in Louisiana, a state that votes Red and is pro-Trump. I'm sure I'd feel more comfortable anywhere else but here during the election madness, and when the Democrats take the White House, what better place to celebrate post-election that the capitol of liberalism, Berkeley, USA?

I don't have all the details of the trip planned out yet, let alone my passport. I do know that I want to take it easy, stay in a hanok in Seoul, do some fall nature walks, venture out to Suwon one day. In Japan I'm not sure if I can see Osaka--that place seems more in keeping with my introverted nature but I hope to see some friends in Tokyo, eat well, and do a minimum of shopping. I'm going to limit myself to four books total this trip. Yes, only four books. I will take photographs, but memories are what are most important. I won't have the money to ever travel like this again in my life, I'm pretty sure. I'M GOING TO EAT EVERYTHING I WANT, LOL.

Happy Holidays to all! Our family just got finished with Hanukah, festival of lights! We ate yummy chocolate, etc. I have a little more time right now to actually do fandom stuffs, so I played with my plushies and posed them in photos. I also tried to draw. Learning more every drawing. I gave up on realism--but that is still my inclination since my teens since I did so much painting then. Painting on a digital program is fun--easy to fix mistakes. I see amazing realistic digital work and understand my weaknesses, but sometimes I feel the emotions are cooked out of too-realistic art. Then I try not to overwork stuff, do more traditional sketches and everything looks bad, lol. But drawing for any one fandom--even a small one--is fun. I've met friends all over the world who love WBDS and K-drama.

I still prefer fighting dramas and sageuk. I am studying Korean and improving little bit by little bit, but my memory is bad. I can understand a lot now but forget reading and writing. I try, though.

Sorry for Dead!Woon drawing.

Forgot that I was a Good Will advocate in the WBDS fandom! Yeo Woon likes to be alive. I will do more writing and updating of fic this holiday too. I'm on Archive of Our Own. The latest fic is time-travel drama-comedy with Dong-soo and Woon. The Water Clock Mission . I am a writer so I write way better than I draw, but drawing is fun and soothing! AND PLUSHIES ARE FUN!

My tumblr blog Woonietune got flagged for the most ridiculous things during all the Tumblr drama, but it's all unflagged and restored now. A drawing of Yoo Seung Ho with a cat was deemed too sexy, LOL.

Moved the blog mostly to WordPress Woonietune. Some K-drama essays there and ramblings. I am still working on a book too--not much progress since my mother died in October. Still have to process that. But trying to have fandom fun!

Last night was Passover, and it goes better with plushies! In fact, everything goes better with fandom plushies! Wanna see my most recent photoshoot and others? My plushies got married in a sparkly gay wedding with MY LITTLE PONIES and other toys in attendance, including many of my loves by master craftsman PHELEON last Saturday. As luck would have it, my daughter's sitter, a professional photographer, wanted photos for her portfolio, and brought along her boyfriend (also photographer) for that event. I'll have nice proofs very soon of that (Plush!Psy was the Master of Ceremonies!) In the meantime, I've been posting entries with pix (not very good pix, sorry) from my camera) of my cuties on my blog WOONIETUNE

NEW FANDOM BLOG

Sophie says I’m not allowed to call myself “stupid. “Scatter-brained” had too many syllables, and “People make mistakes!” sounded too new-age-therapeutic when I just wanted to cuss at myself for MESSING UP HTML, so Asher suggested I call myself “ridiculous.” Anyway, my ridiculous self figured out how to navigate WordPress better. After I’m done reading more Hōseki no Kuni  (Non-binary cast! Swords! Angry Buddhist antagonists!), I’ll post more fandom meta re gender issues, spirituality, and lift some passages from the homework pages I’ve been churning out for my therapist re my YEO WOON SUICIDE PREVENTION PROGRAM and other K-drama ramblings.  woonietune.wordpress.com/ will be presentable eventually—with videos and arts and I’ll post my gay OTP plushies when they get to me—ha, as well as my 2018 Ji Chang Wook calendar when I design it. SOMEONE WILL WANT TO SEE IT, RIGHT? Soph is pumped. Not sure if I’ll get all my K-drama/manga/anime reviews up—will probably keep fic archived elsewhere—but we’ll see. Asher says Tumblr won’t go down anytime soon, that MySpace is still around, but I noted that so is LiveJournal, and we all know how fandom left that beast as soon as the Russians took over. *Deep ajumma sigh* One must follow the times and stay young. Cartoons are better than ever these days. Who would’ve thought we’d see the canon coupling of an interracial pair of bisexual gals on Saturday morning television following Spongebob on Nickelodeon a few years ago? I watched the last episode of Legend of Korra with Sophie and Asher, and I stood up and SCREAMED IN JOY. I didn’t blog about anything in those days except a stupid manga I hate now. I run so hot and cold.  Going to try to keep more little dishes on the table. More banchan with my rice. I swear I’ll love Dong-soo and Woonie forever though. *crosses heart and hopes to dieeeee*
