Every now and then I get a letter asking me to draw an OC or illustrate a fic and my usual answer, unless the letter is from someone I know, is "no, sorry." It takes time to do art, even bad art!

Then I realized--people sew dresses and sell them and these people aren't Ralph Lauren. Maybe I need to value myself more as an artist. I've done a minimum of pro work in my drawing life--a t-shirt here, an kids' art camp there, once I doodled caricatures at a kids' birthday party. I always felt bad taking money for my drawings. I've never been to art school, have no sort of professional degree or "outside validation" of my art ability, and as we've seen here on this very site, people will occasionally comment on my fanart to tell me how much it sucks.

I'm broke, though, and my tablet is very nearly so, and I need a new one. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to pay me for digital work? An OC commission, a small banner or website graphic, a reproduction of a family portrait, some nekkid mens or ladies? Should I even ask? How much should I ask for?
